A misdemeanor, according to its legal meaning, is an act or omission that is regarded as wrong and acceptable by global cultural norms. A misdemeanor is a non-serious crime that has a lesser punishment than other illegal behaviors.
The individual who commits a misdemeanor will be punished in one of the following ways: he will be imprisoned, he will have to pay a fine of more than 1000 Dihrams, or he will have to offer Diyat, i.e., payment of Blood Money.
“A misdemeanor is a crime punished by one or more of the following penalties,” according to Article 29 of Federal Law No. (3) of 1987 Promulgating the Penal Code. The penalties are below:
