The right to self-defense, as well as any act performed while exercising that right, are not treated and seen as crimes, according to Article 56 of the Penal Law. There is no crime if the act is carried out in the exercise of a valid right of self-defense. The law also specifies that the action will be viewed as a right of self-defense in certain circumstances, such as when the defender faces or anticipates imminent danger to himself or his property and has no way to contact public authorities, and the defender had no other means to avoid such actions. To avoid risk, the act had to be carried out.
If the following requirements are met, there will be a right to justifiable self-defense.
